Five Sentence Fiction - PURPLE

Different Shades

Sometimes they are yellow, sometimes just blue. I used to love putting on makeup to look my best, now it’s worn for another reason. Last night some came up deep purple. So many factors influence the colours. My body shows different shades of pain, just depends on how hard he hits.

  1. Well said. A sad but poignant post well crafted in such a few sparse sentences. I found it very evocative.

    1. I feel Lillie's FSF http://lilliemcferrin.com/five-sentence-fiction-purple/ has us reaching to depths. Might develop this story a little further. Thanks for taking the time to read. I appreciate the feedback.

  2. Oh God, this is the color purple we know and wish we didn't. How many times have we seen someone struggling to cover it unsuccessfully from prying eyes? The piece was intense and well written, I liked the contrast between using makeup to look petty and makeup to cover lies. Well done!

    1. Sadly it's true. I think when choosing a story like this it's all too easy to be diplomatic (like paint over it or hide it with make up) or have a soft ending. But I felt it needed to strike. Thank you for reading and taking time to give feedback.
